For years I've been a fan of good design, spending hours crafting slide decks just for them to feel 'not quite right'. One of my investors recommended this course to me, and I can concretely say that it's changed my entire outlook on design. My pitch deck, website, feature design, even my LinkedIn posts were instantly upgraded. Finally I had a way to get my message across in a way that made sense visually. This course helped me cut through the noise and stand out from the crowd. In a way that just makes sense. That same investor that recommended it to me, now asks me to do designs for them. Incredible product illustrated and communicated in a way that only Jack could. Flush with diagrams, video assets and the true "why" behind everything it recommends, B1S2 is the single best starting point for the exhausted consultant/advisor/creator to regain control of their time. 4 stars because I'm a sucker for exercises. With Jack's ability to create products like the Daily Manifest I almost wish this product came along with fillable exercises, templates and resources so I'd have finished with a small booklet of my own thoughts to expedite my work (I would pay more). True to Jack's commitment to provide 5x the value it charges.

Transformed the way I create content

I heard about Jack through a Codie Sanchez video a few weeks back. Since then, I have binged the content online and more recently, the visualise value course. The way that Jack explains (and more importantly shows us) the concept behind visualise value makes it so compelling. Very useful, obsiviously a labor of love

I got more than x100 the price I paid for the course. The content is short and up to the point, the videos are easy to follow. For me watching Jack create and learning how to use Figma were the most valuable videos so far but I’m not done with the course yet. I'm not even finished. I keep getting so inspired with every module and make a ton of art. I read a review when I started that said they finished it in an hour but I don't know how that's possible. I've always assumed that you'd have to be a very creative person to design a visual identity. Unfortunately, I've never possessed the creative gene. But with this course, it really didn't matter. Bundling and unbundling. All businesses are either doing one or the other. I came to Build Once, Sell Twice (B1S2) as someone relatively new to online marketing, seeking better strategies for my online presence. Key insight for me (so far, I'm still in the process of clarifying my presence and developing my first online product) is that I am filtering people out as I filter others in. B1S2 has helped me to describe the problem that counselling solves better than anyone else, and to do so in a way that both attracts those who I am best equipped to help. and signals to those who want a different approach to keep looking. I was never a designer by education but Jack’s teachings on Figma helped me pick up the tool as I was working to prototype new software features for clients. Can't recommend this enough

Build Once Sell Twice is IMO criminally underpriced. The concepts Jack teaches here are well thought out and communicated to perfection. I've been using it as a guide for my career (I bought it straight out of college), and it keeps providing value 2+ years after. I don't know how the man does it — I firmly believe that Jack's not human. This product's a no-brainer. Feel free to reach out with questions, but I can't recommend it enough.

I'm afraid this might awaken something in me..

Gotcha. This course indeed awoke a creative spirit within me. I've always thought that I am not artistic and am limited to only drawing stick figures. Jack and VV taught me otherwise. Through Jack's intentional signals and careful instructions, I was able to learn how to capture conceptual meanings in minimalistic design patterns. Deliberate practice of creating visuals on personal sayings and favorite quotes led me to create a whole series of my own that applied the lessons imbued in this course. I cannot recommend this course enough to anyone who can appreciate visuals and the reach they can potentially deliver. You may not think you're creative, but you just haven't had the right teacher. Jack Butcher and VV is the right teacher.

Excellent Training For Creating Visuals And Communicating Metaphors In Figma

I had a great experience going through the course and learning how to communicate through visuals. As a writer, learning how to create these images are a tool to improve how I communicate to my audience.

I am a visual oriented person, it is amazing how can we learn with visuals, but being visual is one thing and producing visuals is another. Learn how to fish

This course definitely fits the bill of "Give a man a fish and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you'll feed him for life." Jack does just that. Yeah, the tools are there and he touches upon them, but they are not really the main focus of the course, since tutorials on using the tools are found anywhere. What the course focuses on though is the mindset needed to create visual design and to express ideas visually, information that is not widely available. A great course, you won't regret buying it!

Communicate clearly. Open up new opportunities.

There are a lot of ways to learn design. But now that it's been over three months since I bought and took Visualize Value, there's one thing that really stands out about this course: it's an incredible amount of value per minute spent learning. Yes, the other reviews are correct: it's a fantastic course. But what truly puts it over the top is the fact that it's a reasonable investment in both money and your *time*. Jack doesn't confuse the length of his course with the value of his course, which I couldn't be more appreciative of.

This course has really helped me with the fundamentals of design and made me feel more confident in approaching problems with a visual-first approach. I loved this course especially because it was orientated around how Jack learned design himself. This is exactly what it says it is, you get to go from 0 to 1. Understanding reasonably well the basic concepts of a good visual representation lets you explore on your own and find your own "voice". This course won't turn you in an expert in a few weeks but if you put in practice what you learn you'll start to get reasonable results really fast. It was fun to learn but it was even funnier to spend time in Figma after I've done this course.

Design Fundamentals and the VV Community Membership are worth every penny. The theory is great, but Jacks heavy bias towards action is what makes it special. He inspires, and leaves you with no excuses. "You don't learn anything until you do something." Very true.

Great balance of theory vs practice, principles vs "how to"

This course is amazing and I can't recommend it enough. Jack did a great job balancing theory vs practice (and there's a lot of practice) as well as principles vs "how to". It's not gonna teach you how to add a shade on your Figma shape (there are millions of Youtube videos on that anyhow) - it will teach you how to use the power of visuals to relate your message. It was an ideal combination for me and it's the first online course which literally got me into "i want to try this stuff asap" mode. Large part of my daily work is convincing senior stakeholders that project X is worth spending millions of US$ on - and I definitely see how showing value through visuals is going to help me do that. I achieved more in one weekend than in the past one year

I'm not a designer, never been to art school, and if I have to illustrate I use badly drawn stick characters, but I do love good design. One of the most valuable and interesting parts of this course was watching how was built from scratch. For someone who suffers from perfectionism and doesn't ship until it's 100% this course is proof that things can be built and shipped almost as quickly as you have the ideas. There's a ton of value in this, and since completing the first run through I've been applying what I've remembered to an ongoing marketing conundrum, and I feel like I've advanced more in one weekend than I have in the last one year.

I was hesitant to purchase a course this expensive, but a week into my purchase I've got no regrets. It's designed to give you a basic understanding of how the VV design process works and also helps you get started with a free tool (Figma) from day 1. Obviously, you're not going to come out of this course a full fledged designer, but it'll pique your interest enough to get you started in the right direction. Another perk - you get an inside view into the mind of Jack Butcher, who deserves to be way more famous than he is. His design aesthetic is so pleasing to the eye that you'll find yourself staring at his work in a trance like state. If you've gotten this far into this review and I haven't convinced you to sign up yet, I guess you're the kind of horse that doesn't drink even after you've been dragged to the pond. Do yourself a favour and drink up.

I was looking for a new way to express my ideas and this coursse is EXACTLY what I was looking for. The learning curve is not very high, the information is ultra-clear and on point, no bullshit (which I appreciate a LOT). It's a great way to find customers. I create web pages and now I don't need to cold messaging people, which I hate. I can just follow the tips, create a sample of my work and give value to my potential customers before they buy.

This course is currently $1 - the same price as Coca Cola. Which is worth it more? 5 minutes of pleasure or knowledge for the rest of your life? Making your health worse or making the living for you and the others around you better? Obvious choice. I even hesitated if I should buy his other courses, because I thought everything that was needed for my success is learned (wrong). If you want to change your mindset to a creator - this is for you!

Reassurance.

Although I did learn new concepts that, if applied, will definitely help me improve, what I loved most about this lesson was that it reassured me that what I was already practicing is the best approach for my situation. The whole idea of: “Things you don’t need: Permission” is something I’ve already been applying — and have seen success with. I create content around everything Web3. Instead of reaching out to an NFT project asking for permission to make a video about what they’re building, I just make the video and tag them. It’s free exposure for them — and if they retweet it, it’s free exposure for me too. Similarly, I’ll livestream blockchain activity, sometimes reviewing people’s NFT collections and observing the moves they’re making — all without their permission. While that might seem a little “intrusive” to some, the reality is it’s all public information. Plus, I’m intentional about keeping things positive — focusing on authentic reactions and highlighting what I genuinely like, since I do have a passion for digital art. I look at NFTs as a digital flex — and just like with physical possessions, people appreciate hearing compliments on them. With this lesson, you’re either going to learn something completely new — or sharpen and reinforce the strategies you’re already using. Either way, highly recommend.

Wrote a review earlier, but it looks like there's no way to edit. After purchasing all of the VV courses, Mr. Butcher very reasonably reached out to ask for a review and even offered to compensate with VV merch or access to more content. Note: he did not ask for a positive review, or make compensation dependent on it. I simply gave 5 stars because I love the product. Now, crickets. No acknowledgement of the review - nothing. Even after reaching out multiple times. The course is still awesome, but half the value comes from the people behind it. Keeping your promises is the first step.

I think in many people's minds they need to have the 'right stuff' to have their own business or work with people they admire or create great work. We are all waiting around for things to be 'ready' to get started or making excuses for why we don't have he opportunities we would like. What I’m about to say makes the most sense if expressed before the end of 2020. I have been following Jack for about half the year and he has truly inspired the way I perceive myself, my work, and my life. He has a gift to translate complex concepts into tangible designs. Just like his course “Build Once, Sell Twice,” gold is found in “The Permissionless Apprentice.” By the 3rd subsection under philosophy, he exposes the difference between learning a skill through organize education verses learning a skill through on-hand experience. Today, I asked a guitar student how he will measure his progress in 2020. One item is he wants to learn is how to construct riffs and work them in spontaneously through progressions and improvisations. My answer verbatim was, “[your goal is] perfect for flexibility and reacting to the music. This is best learned through experience with another source…like jamming with a record or with a friend. Yes, a book can give you ideas but the real art is where and how you apply it.” You truly find mastery of one’s practice when you can search for them on any domain and understand immediate how the content and brand interconnect. I measure the worth of training by one primary metric: how much it changes my behaviour. The Permissionless Apprenticeship is incredible--before I even finished all of the materials it had opened up a possibility to me that is so appealing that I had to pause on the course and begin right away! Unlike the TV show, you don't need to sweat through auditions to get a hold of this material. The title 'The Permissionless Apprenticeship' grabbed me, as I believe that the path of Mastery (through apprenticeship) in life and work is a worthwhile journey. Jack Butcher's material is always clear, concise, and actionable. This course is one of the shortest I've ever bought, but the emphasis on action means it's probably the most valuable in getting started in producing value for the market and more. I stumbled on to Jack Butcher via Naval. I wasn't even on twitter at the time, but Jack was so interesting I'd check his twitter once a day. Finally I had to get back on twitter and have been following him ever since. I've been trying to get ahead for a long time now, but struggled to find a way until Jack started talking about the "Permissionless Apprenticeship" and suddenly everything clicked into place. I wasn't getting ahead because I didn't understand the rules of the game. The Permissionless Apprenticeship is the playbook to the modern economy. I'm now pursing an Permissionless Apprenticeship at my job and I can already tell its going to work. Why? Because a Permissionless Apprenticeship is always a win win. Wow, Th Permissionless Apprentice blew me away for a few reasons. First of all, I taught me the simplest way to get noticed but those I wish to serve - to "act, then ask". This course will light a fire under your a**. Jack lays out great ideas for how you can make any action a great opportunity, even if you come up short on your ultimate goal. There are also great examples of how to effectively reach out to new people online. This review is only 4 stars because I wish there were more interactivity. There is a worksheet at the end, but it is simple, and it felt like there could be more structure or direction. Of course, after you soak up the information, it is up to you to leverage the community Jack creates and to go on and use the lessons in your own projects. With that said, I do still think the course could do a better job of invoking interaction within the community, or invoking more action on your part to go out and use the ideas presented. All in all, happy I am bought this course. Thanks Jack!

Better than university!

This course was awesome! It will definitely motivate you to become a creator (instead of remaining a consumer), in your chosen craft. Specifically, this course contains a collection of principles, lessons and examples on becoming a permissionless apprentice. I give it 4 out of 5 stars because I think either there needs to be more content or priced slightly lower, to make it of fairer value. For example, Seth Godin's latest book 'The Practice' is only $20 and probably has more info and of greater value. Nonetheless, I do recommend this course, if you take the lessons to heart, it will change your perspective & mindset. Thank you Jack :)

Seriously, Jack and the Visualize Value team knocked it out of the park. I purchased Build Once, Sell Twice the week of Thanksgiving and crushed the course over the holiday weekend. As a practitioner 12 years into his career, it was what I needed most. However, the title and concept of The Permissionless Apprentice intrigued me, so I purchased it to see if I could pick up any tips or tools as I move forward, and I received much more than that — I got my mind adjusted. Since I launched my business in 2016, I've often sold my time to the highest bidder, which is always not customers or clients with the greatest need or the best product. Quite literally life-changing

At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, the BOST framework has changed my life and worldview. Jack's story of moving from a build-once, sell once framework as a graphic designer parallels my own professional experience in a different industry. We invest a bunch of time and resources into a product or a project, sell it, and then have to start from scratch time and time again on the next product or project to sell once. Building something once, and then selling it twice (or 2,000 times) flips that traditional notion on its head. Great lever to build where you work. I was at a crossroads, after 25 years as a successful investor, but told I was too old to be an analyst and my track record too stale to run money. I’m using this in a daily basis for a year. It helps me to stay focused, organized and grounded. Sometimes the best things are simple, and this is one of them. If you give this a chance and stay with it for enough time, you will see the difference in your life. I’ve spent good money in a lot of digital and analog tools, and the dm is free and by far the best. If you don’t want to print this, you can easily adapt this layout using a pencil to your favorite notebook (as I do), but I highly recommend to start with the printed version.

Add this (or replace) to your morning journal and bring discipline to your day

Reading your goals each day is an affirmation. Setting your phone to silent while you work on the most important thing is a technique to get more done at a higher quality. Tracking your habits (good and bad) improves them for the better. Identifying your top 3 reflections from yesterday (if doing this in the morning) provides insight for the coming day. It is a tool I highly recommend you try.

Jack has a way of breaking things down to their simplistic but effective essence and the same is true of the this daily manifest guide. I found the example he includes really helpful to kick of the process of recording my daily habits and ensuring I am working towards my goals. Recommend!

Captures the monkey mind effortlessly

As Tim Ferris alludes to in one of his blogs, having a million ideas is not always good. It tends to pull you in different directions, and ultimately you never move. Tim calls this the monkey mind and when he puts pen to paper, he puts the monkey in a cage, and that frees him to move ahead in the direction of his choice. Jack's Daily Manifest does that for me. There is limited but structured space, so it forces me to pick the most important items from a list and focus on them. Reviewing them helps to ensure that none of the ideas stagnates and all of them move along, even if slowly. Lastly, the desktop app is simply brilliant! Yes, writing is far more beneficial overall, but having all the thoughts on the same screen/device on which I work makes it even better and more convenient. Kudos on making this free.

Clarity & Focus

I’ll admit that I’m not always committed to the process. This has been a huge struggle for me. As has overthinking things, stalling to put myself (or XYZ project) out there. When I first discovered VV, I again struggled to start. When I finally did, and actually committed to doing the daily manifests daily, things in my life really took shape. My sleep habits improved ten fold. My focus improved significantly. Oddly (or not so oddly) I was accomplishing more than ever before, including reading regularly. And most importantly perhaps I was reflecting. VV and the community behind it, has been a huge help in my life since 2019 when I first discovered it. I’d recommend it without hesitation.

Necessary

I didn't know how much I needed this until I didn't use it for a month. The simple ritual that the Daily Manifest creates is one of the most important parts of my day. Not because anything incredible happens in the 2 min it takes to fill it out, but because the other 24 hrs seem to flow easier because of it. There is real benefit to putting down what you need to get done in the short term and the long term. It's easier to be calm and rest in confidence when you can trust the path you've set for yourself every time you look at the DM.

DM moves me forward in business without forgetting about life. I love the discipline of planning my day, seeing my long term and short term business goals right along with health goals and habits all on one page. I have used many journals before, and this is the "best of" for builders who want a life too. They all work together, as we do as one person, to move forward, productively, positively, supported by health and good habits. Worth it 100X

Down to earth productivity

When the manifest was bundled with the community I saw more value in the community than I did with the manifest. But I gave the manifest a try, I'm on day 13 now. It works better than any productivity app and you start seeing results almost within the first week if you keep to your Macro/Mezzo/Micro goals. It helps you deliberately use your time and shape the work you do daily to achieve your daily & mid to long term goals. Now that I use the manifest I've realized that it is equal if not more valuable than the community to help achieve your goals. Highly recommended!

Magically Simple

I used The Daily Manifest daily for two weeks. Then I stopped for a couple of days. It’s not that I wasn’t as productive in these two days, it’s that I didn’t *know* if I was. The magic in the DM is that it forces you to be productive by staying out of your way while you’re being productive. Unlike most productivity tools that need your attention throughout the day, the DM doesn’t. Magical in its simplicity.

The boost you need

One week into planning tomorrow today with this and my productivity is boosted. I’m flexible to a fault yet this system even works for me. Most of my waking hours are spent on screens. Don’t stay digital with this. The power of the DM is unleashed when you write this out.
