Jack Butcher

b. 1988, Swindon, England. Lives and works in Tennessee.

Jack Butcher is a conceptual artist working at the intersection of digital media, permissionless markets, and visual communication. He founded Visualize Value in 2019. His practice examines markets, scarcity, consensus, and the mechanics of belief through visual systems that function as both explanations and critiques.

He studied graphic design at the University of Wales, Cardiff. He moved to New York in 2010 and spent the next decade as a creative director in Fortune 100 advertising — working with brands including Amazon, Nike, and Ferrari. Eventually he ran his own agency with his wife, Celia.

Good clients. Good work. Bad model. Every dollar required another hour. The agency was successful, but the model was not. He was building someone else’s leverage while depleting his own.

In January 2019 he walked away and started Visualize Value as a daily practice: one black-and-white image distilling ideas through visual constraints. Approximately 1,000 original pieces. The practice became a product line spanning courses, tools, art, and physical objects.

The work has been exhibited at Art Basel Miami Beach (2024, 2025), Art Basel Hong Kong (2026), Paris Photo (2024), and Christie’s during Frieze New York (2023). In February 2023 he launched Checks VV Edition, then Opepen Edition days later. Self Checkout at Art Basel Miami Beach 2025 was acquired by X-Museum, Beijing.
