Latent (2024)
With PICTO, LaCollection, Beyond Art Creative, Gary Powell
An exploration merging AI-generated imagery with traditional photography. The project comprises 80 unique works treating digital negatives as primary artifacts, then translating them into physical silver gelatin prints using analog darkroom techniques.
The artist treats the neural network's latent space — a high-dimensional representation of visual possibilities — as the subject of inquiry, with the model navigating this space through text prompts to synthesize thousands of outputs.
Exhibited at Paris Photo (November 7-10, 2024), marking the 100th anniversary of the Surrealist movement in Paris. Gary Powell of The Libertines created an original composition titled "Sonic Duality" specifically for the exhibition.
